So if I can relate or like someones tweets, that means I can 'follow' what they are saying. Hence follow (just my theory). Contacts as I see it, suits professional networking sites like linkedin but not all social networking sites. For sites like scribd and flickr 'contacts' is not the right word terms like 'favourites' might work. Facebook has to stick with friends as that's the basic purpose of the site right?
